The Ocean Reef Club is a member-owned membership club in the Florida Keys with a more than half a century tradition. It began as a small fishing camp in 1948, but members wanted to expand their activities beyond fishing. Besides two championship 18-hole courses, the Club is home to several amenities that allow yachting, tennis, flying, dining, swimming, shopping, and more.

There are three main membership types for those interested in joining the Ocean Reef Club: equity, social, and legacy. The equity membership is for individuals who own property at the Club, including a dock or condominium. Equity members have voting rights and ownership of the club itself.

The social membership is for people living outside of the Monroe County and Miami-Dade County borders. It provides access to the Club and facilities with limits. Miami-Dade and Monroe County residents can join with a local version of this membership with both a year-round and summer-only option. The legacy membership is for the children and grandchildren of equity members.

There are nearly 1,600 equity members who own property at the Club. In addition, over 2,000 people hold social and local memberships, while 1,400 hold the legacy membership status. The land of the Club encompasses 2,500 acres, in which there are several amenities members can enjoy. Some amenities include Buccaneer Island, the Cooking School at Carysfort Kitchen, a cultural center, two distinctly different 18-hole golf courses, a 175-slip private marina, a member fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a private airport, tennis and games center, an 8,000-square-foot spa, as well as numerous dining options.

An Ocean Reef Club member-favorite destination is Buccaneer Island, the Club’s hub for aquatic sports activities and the place members go to relax on chaise lounges and umbrellas by the pools. For instance, at Buccaneer Island, members can practice SCUBA diving if they are certified divers or visit an independent service provider in the Fishing Village to get their certification in SCUBA diving, buy and rent equipment, or plan SCUBA dive and family snorkeling trips. In addition, both advanced and beginner eco-kayak and stand-up paddle (SUP) trips are also available for those in Buccaneer Island. These tours take members and guests through the sea and teach them the basics of kayaking and SUP.

Members also have access to the Club’s private marina. It features dockmaster services, boat storage services, and boat and yacht rentals for those who enjoy fishing. The marina’s fleet of charter boats is available from half-day through the whole day for various charter trips. Additionally, Ocean Reef’s dockmaster services offer a first-class experience, with luggage assistance upon arrival and departure, daily boat checks in the owner’s absence, message delivery and mail service during the owner’s stay, and access to marina facilities, such as a well-equipped fuel dock and shower, coin laundry and restroom facilities.

A popular Ocean Reef Club amenity among cooking enthusiasts is Carysfort Kitchen, where members can enjoy hands-on classes and culinary events. Moreover, several other dining opportunities are available throughout the Club, such as Gianni Ristorante, located above the marina, the Raw Bar at the Fishing Village, and the Beach Grill and Bar at Buccaneer Island.
